Our edutainment mockumentary (what a mouthful!) series is created by Nataliya Oryshchuk and David Allen with the generous support of the Christchurch City Council and the Intangible Heritage Grant. Now we are able to share the adventures of the famous ghost hunter and local history buff William Langford of Langfords AND his trusty silver spoon!

 

In each episode, the investigative team of NO Productions Theatre (armed with a shaky camera!) embark on a new spooky historical quest, delving into the Christchurch past .

Haunted by History is lovingly dedicated to Christchurch heritage, with Season 2 available now!

Episode 1:

The Sign of the Takahē

In the first episode, the famous ghost hunter William Langford of Langfords helps the NO Productions Theatre team investigate the mysteries of the Sign of the Takahē. Are those strange rumours about the haunting of the "castle on the hill" true?

Riccarton House

In the second episode, William Langford of Langfords helps the NO Productions Theatre team investigate the mysteries of Riccarton House: who are the Deans family? Is Jane's ghost still guarding her family home?

McLean's Mansion

In the third episode, the famous ghost hunter William Langford helps the NO Productions Theatre team find McLean's Mansion... spoiler: it is not on McLeans Island! And there is quite a story to tell.

Cave Rock/Tuawera

Once upon a stormy night... In this episode, the famous ghost hunter William Langford of Langfords helps the NO Productions Theatre team investigate the mysteries of Tuawera or Cave Rock in Sumner, and it's a whale of a tale!

Mona Vale

In this episode, Mr Langford helps the NO Productions Theatre team investigate the mysteries of Mona Vale... its history resembles a gothic novel, which will keep his ghost-detecting silver spoon very busy.

St Albans/Abberley Park

Haunted by History returns for Season Two! The famous ghost hunter William Langford and the NO Productions Theatre team travel into the wilds of north Christchurch and find a... park! But wait, there is more: English actresses, duchesses, horror stories, scented gardens and, of course, a mysterious mansion, Abberley Park Hall.

S2 - Episode 2: 

Papanui/St Paul's Church

In this episode, our very own ghost hunter and local history buff Mr Langford yet again uses his famous Silver Spoon to uncover the past! This time he travels to St Paul's Church in one of Christchurch's oldest suburbs, Papanui, which was once the mighty Papanui bush. Watch as Mr Langford navigates through many historical twists and turns!

The Malthouse

It's not a castle, it's not a fortress, it's not a gingerbread house, it's... the Malthouse!

The investigative team of NO Productions Theatre embarks on a new spooky quest into the history of one of the oldest Christchurch buildings!

In this arresting episode, Mr Langford and the NO Productions team unlock the mysteries of a well-hidden Governor's Bay landmark, the Allandale Lockup. They hunt down its past, revealing all the unexpected historical aliases and guises...

The Godwits of Southshore

This episode celebrates the courage and resilience of the legendary Godwits/Kuaka, and their deep connection with Southshore/Te Karoro Karoro. Mr Langford and the NO Productions team explore the myths and legends surrounding this ancient land and its mysterious winged residents.
